Platelet-Rich Plasma For Aesthetic Wellness

Believe it or not, you can utilize your body’s own natural methods of healing in facial rejuvenation. Today, we’re exploring Platelet-Rich Plasma, its amazing capabilities, and how they can be used to reduce the signs of aging.

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is gathered from your very own blood. Once a vial or so has been collected, it is placed within a centrifuge that then separates the red and white blood cells. The white blood cells contain a concentrated amount of platelets that are then used to create a PRP injection.

PRP has a long and safe history of use in the world of orthopedic surgery, medicine, and other disciplines. More recently, its powers have been appreciated for collagen growth and rejuvenation of aging tissues.

PRP therapy is often used in the treatment of painful injuries and musculoskeletal issues.

The PRP is injected into the site of injury and pain, and the concentrated platelets dissolve to release proteins that help to speed up recovery. This is especially useful for sport’s injuries, as well as muscle and joint pain!

PRP is often used to help with the symptoms of arthritis and to give cartilage a chance to heal. The same properties can be harnessed to improve your facial collagen, skin health, and overall appearance.

PRP is an amazing way to harness the body’s built-in powers of healing to alleviate pain and inflammation in an easy in-office, same-day treatment.

How Can It Be Used For Facial Rejuvenation?

Platelet-rich plasma sounds pretty amazing, right? But how does this translate into the world of facial rejuvenation and skincare?

Your platelets can be utilized in aesthetic wellness through PRP Facials, also known as Blood Facials or Vampire Facials. That may sound spooky, but the results are anything but.

Basically, PRP is deposited into the area where healing and growth is need with very small needles or painless blunt cannulas. The PRP is injected, and it induces collagen growth, draws in local stem cells with cytokine chemotaxis, and promotes skin rejuvenation in a very natural manner.

When PRP is used topically, your plasma sinks into your skin and helps to tighten your skin, promote collagen production, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and give your face a softer, smoother, more youthful appearance. You may also notice that your skin is more even and hydrated following your facial.

At Smooth By Sarah & Warner Orthopedics & Wellness, PRP can be applied topically with our patent-pending formulation using natural phytochemicals to drive the PRP into the collagen layer.

Let’s Look At the Process

Just like the process of PRP injections, your blood is gathered in a sterile office setting by a medical professional and placed in a centrifuge. Once the blood has separated, your platelets are then prepared for facial application. We utilize our patent-pending formulation to produce this healing cream.

Another way we can place PRP in the areas that need it most is with micro-needling.  In this treatment protocol, millions of microscopic punctures are created that cause collagen growth as part of the healing process.

First, your specialist will numb your face with a topical cream to avoid any sensitivity. Your skin is then prepped to be moisturized and free of any pigmentation. Your specialist will then use a micro-needling device to promote skin rejuvenation and collagen growth.

Then, PRP will be applied to the face and will enter the skin through the micro-needling punctures. This will allow the plasma to sink deep into the layers of your skin.

The combination of micro-needling and PRP is synergistic. The PRP will also allow your face to recover very quickly from the procedure. It normally takes 3 days or so, but with PRP that can be reduced to one or two days.

The process is essentially pain-free, and since the PRP is collected from your own blood, there is no chance for an allergic reaction to occur.

It is not uncommon to experience some sensitivity on the surface of your skin following your facial, but this is typically short-lived.

Again, the PRP not only creates better and more beautiful results, but it allows you to heal more quickly, too.

Results of micro-needling are apparent 6 weeks or so after the procedure. Expect to have younger feeling skin with the skin appearing tighter, brighter, and healthier, and these results can last many months.

Multiple PRP facials may be required for optimal results to reduce the appearance of fine lines, fine wrinkles, scarring, or skin damage. Alternatively, one micro-needling procedure with PRP followed by a few months of the topical PRP formulation can achieve similar results.
